As we enter the spring months and the weather slowly starts to warm up, people have already begun thinking about their summer plans. Honestly, many of us keep an eye on public holidays when planning vacations or visits to our hometowns. Especially this year, since Eid al-Adha falls at the end of May — right at the beginning of summer — it has encouraged many people to start planning earlier.
Where we come from, in Şanlıurfa, the preparations for Eid al-Adha have a very special atmosphere. Weeks in advance, the sounds of rams brought from rural areas echo through the markets, while fresh peppers and spices that will accompany the meat start appearing on the stalls. The spirit of abundance — the kind that grows as it is shared and brightens the tables of neighbors — spreads throughout the whole city. Of course, there is also a digital side to this excitement: questions like “Which day should we travel?” and “How long will the holiday be?” Let’s take a look at the exact dates on the calendar.
According to the 2026 religious calendar announced by the Presidency of Religious Affairs, the first day of Eid al-Adha will fall on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. The holiday will last four days and end on Saturday, May 30, 2026.
For employees planning their vacation, the schedule is as follows:
Eid al-Adha Eve (Arife): Tuesday, May 26, 2026 (Half-Day Holiday)
Eid al-Adha – Day 1: Wednesday, May 27, 2026
Eid al-Adha – Day 2: Thursday, May 28, 2026
Eid al-Adha – Day 3: Friday, May 29, 2026
Eid al-Adha – Day 4: Saturday, May 30, 2026
If administrative leave is granted for Monday and the morning of the eve (Tuesday), or if you use your annual leave, it could turn into a 9-day early summer vacation when combined with the weekends.
It’s easy to lose track of time sometimes. As of March 5, there are approximately 80–85 days (a little over 2.5 months) left until Eid al-Adha on May 27, 2026.
So there is still enough time to research sacrificial animals, book holiday tickets with early reservations, or arrange your sacrifice donation abroad through proxy — though time will pass quickly.
Going on vacation or visiting family this year is wonderful, but there is also the spiritual responsibility — the trust placed upon us. Finding people in need around us is not always as easy as it used to be. Many of us live in large cities and apartments, often wondering: “Where will I sacrifice my animal? Who will I distribute it to?”
This is where we carry the culture of sharing from Şanlıurfa to the deserts of Africa, and to war-affected regions such as Gaza and Syria. Through our Video Qurbani Donation system, you can have your sacrifice performed abroad with share prices starting from 2,900 TL.
And there is no need to wonder “Was my sacrifice really performed?” The moment your sacrifice is carried out, the unedited video showing the moment your name is announced during the slaughter is sent to you via SMS.
In a way, while you are on vacation or relaxing at home, the joy of Eid for a child thousands of kilometers away reaches directly to your phone.
Will the 2026 Eid al-Adha holiday be 9 days?
Since Eid begins on Wednesday, if Monday and the eve (Tuesday half day) are declared administrative leave by the government, the holiday could extend to 9 days. Otherwise, the official holiday period is 4.5 days.
How many days before Eid should I make my Qurbani donation?
For international Qurbani organizations (Africa, Asia, Middle East), animal procurement and logistics planning are done months in advance. Therefore, it is recommended to complete your donation at least 1–2 weeks before Eid.
How much are international Qurbani prices for 2026?
Within Kardeşim Derneği, the 2026 international large animal share is 2,900 TL, while the Africa small animal Qurbani price is 3,900 TL. However, the final obligatory Qurbani prices may still be updated.
When we check the calendar and count the days until Eid, we often dream of taking a break and spending time with our loved ones. But we should remember that while we count vacation days, there are children somewhere in the world waiting eagerly for that day — because it may be the only time of the year when meat reaches their homes.
So while packing your suitcase this year, how about placing a share of compassion in your spiritual luggage as well?
Enjoy your holiday, and at the same time watch the sacrifice video sent to your phone — filling your heart with that unique sense of peace.
