The pages of the calendar are rapidly turning toward that blessed season. The month of Ramadan—purifying our hearts and filling our homes with peace—is preparing to embrace our world with its spiritual atmosphere. For the Muslim world, one of the most eagerly awaited times of the year is approaching, and the sweetest anticipation on everyone’s mind is the timing of the first suhoor and iftar of 2026.
This year, our tables will not only host bread and water, but also brotherhood, hope, and prayer. So, when will we reach the first key to this gate of mercy—the first suhoor—and the first reward—the first iftar?
The first night of Ramadan is the moment we renew our intentions and step into its spiritual climate. According to the calendar of the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet), the first suhoor of 2026 will take place on the night connecting Tuesday, February 17 to Wednesday, February 18, 2026.
On that night, lights will turn on not only in Türkiye, but also in the most remote corners of the Islamic world. While we rise for suhoor in our warm homes, Kardeşim Association teams will already be preparing iftar meals and food parcels for our brothers and sisters in villages without electricity in Tanzania, Chad, or Niger. Those iftar meals prepared with your support may well be the most filling meal a family eats all year. The blessing of the first suhoor of 2026 will cross borders and reach, through you, the tent of a Gazan refugee family seeking shelter in Egypt.
Intentions are made, prayers are recited, and the long-awaited moment arrives. The first iftar of 2026 will be observed on Wednesday evening, February 18, 2026, with the call to the evening prayer.
The excitement of the first iftar is truly special—the first date, the first sip of water… Yet millions of our brothers and sisters experience this moment with a heavy heart. As Kardeşim Association, this Ramadan we say “Brotherhood Knows No Borders” and set our first iftar tables in Uganda, Nigeria, and in refugee camps in Egypt for Gazans.
While you wait for the adhan at home, a child you have never met—perhaps an orphan—will be waiting for the same call to prayer at a table set kilometers away through your donation. Isn’t being the smile on that child’s face at the first iftar of 2026 more precious than all the blessings in the world?
Ramadan is not the month of hunger, but the month of understanding the hungry. As we experience the excitement of the first suhoor and first iftar of 2026, let us share this joy with hearts in need.
A food parcel or an iftar donation made through Kardeşim Association can become a seed of hope in Africa’s arid lands, or a healing balm for the wounded hearts of Gaza. Let our intention at this first suhoor be not only to fast, but also to reach out and hold the hand of a brother or sister in need.
